- The Mike Allen Quartet, featuring Jake Langley
with Field Trip Trio‘s Patrick Reid on bass and Mark Nelson on drums
Described by the Globe and Mail as “a supremely melodic improviser,” Vancouver saxophonist Mike Allen has become an important name on the Canadian jazz scene. His album “Love One Another” was hailed as the #1 Canadian Jazz Album of 2005 by the Ottawa Citizen.
Guitar-great Jake Langley is now based in New York and gained international attention touring the world with the renowned Joey Defrancesco Trio.
Young-guns Patrick Reid-bass and Mark Nelson-drums round out the band; They’re best known for their work with the outstanding Montreal-based group “Field Trip Trio” who are regular visitors to Kingston.

Patrick Reid and Mark Nelson
The afternoon of joyous, swinging music will be steeped in the tradition of the great saxophone-led groups of Sonny Rollins, Hank Mobley, and Mike’s former teacher and musical mentor, Joe Henderson.
