gray_matter_mike_select_0091Gray Matter – the contemporary jazz group co-led by brothers Justin and Derek Gray – is set to release “Footsteps”, their debut album in March 2015. Their first effort features Grammy award winning trumpeter Ingred Jensen, Juno nominated pianist Todd Pentney, and Vancoucer’s rising star tenor saxophonist/film composer Eli Bennett.

Gray Matter brings a unique blend of modern jazz and groove-based music, with influences ranging from John Coltrane to James Brown. Gray Matter will be releasing “Footsteps” with an 8-concert Ontario/Quebec CD Release tour: playing two nights at The Rex, a Saturday performance at The Jazz Room in Waterloo, and a Sunday afternoon matinee presented by the Kingston Jazz Society. Aiming to connect with all generations of Canadian music lovers, Gray Matter will also be leading post-secondary workshops, including a noon-hour clinic at Humber College.
