An obsessive, psychopathic Scotland Yard detective and a likeable but murderous master criminal square off in this fast-moving psychological thriller with a shocking twist.

Former Police Superintendent Pratt is driven by a desire to track down John Rawlings, the criminal who has eluded him for years. When Pratt, who has still not traced the proceeds of Rawlings last and most audacious crime, is summoned to Dr. Adcock’s surgery and presented with what appears to be Rawlings’ body, he is totally defeated.
