Pat Murray: December 5 CD Release at Brandees

November 25, 2010 Leave a comment

Pat Murray - Live at Brandees Sunday December 5 at 2pm

Appearing with Pat are: Cam Schaefer, Bob Arlidge, Christos Smirnios and Dave Barton

In addition to the launch of A TICKET TO RIDE, Pat Murray is launching a new project, “A Life A Year” – Part of the UHN Family. It has recently been co-founded by Pat Murray – a liver donor herself. This project is funded solely by the generosity of individuals who hope to save a life through their support of living donors. “A Year A Life” has been established to assist the donor emotionally and financially during the sometimes-lengthy post-surgical recuperation period.

“Four years ago I donated seventy percent of my liver”, Pat recalls. “I was very fortunate in that I was able to take a leave of absence from my ‘day job’ for the three month recovery time necessary. I also didn’t have to worry about how I was going to pay my bills during my recuperation, as I had the financial where-with-all through my employer, as well as additional financial and emotional support from my family.  Allison Cassidy (my organ recipient and co-founder of ‘A Life a Year’) and I both feel that more potential donors would step up to save a life – if they could afford to. That’s what the project will provide, and it’s our goal to save “A Life a Year”. A portion of the proceeds from TICKET TO RIDE – THE BEATLES BOOK will go directly to “A Life a Year”.

Carl Wilson, zoilus.com

“Eminently quirky… Drumheller’s music is both grandly swinging and bizarre at turns. ….as striking, iconoclastic and superb as any group pushing the boundaries of jazz and improvised music today.”
Matthew Sumera, All About Jazz

DRUMHELLER is a quintet of jazz composer/performers who draw from traditional to avant-garde, as well as from their diverse experiences in free improvisation, folk, notated music, punk and groove music.  The group embraces collective and solo improvisation, with compositions that range from short sketches used as jumping off points for free improvisation to through-composed pieces.
